Daniel P. Richardson

Dan joined Tarrant, Gillies & Richardson as an associate in 2005 and became a partner in the firm in 2009. Dan’s practice focuses on civil litigation, administrative hearings, mediation, and appeals. His clients include municipalities, individuals, and businesses. Dan’s practice focuses on the following areas:

Dan currently serves as a small claims court judge with Washington Superior Court and was recently appointed by the Washington County Superior Court to serve as a special master in a matter involving the receivership of an insurance company. He is a member of the Montpelier Development Review Board. Dan is on the Board of Directors for the Vermont Bar Foundation and in December 2013 he was nominated to become President-Elect of the Vermont Bar Association. Dan is also the Founder and Editor of the SCOV Law Blog, which has summarized every published Vermont Supreme Court decision since July 2010. Dan’s summaries for the Blog are often cross-posted on Vermont Digger. Dan is also an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School where he teaches municipal law.

Personal Interests
Dan is an avid swimmer and jazz collector. Dan worked for several years as a gravedigger in Boston at Forest Hills Cemetery. He lives with his wife and two children in Montpelier.
